Open Letter to the President

Dear President Barack Obama,

The Government Shutdown means my Federal Student Loans have been absolved, right?

I feel as though I shouldn’t have to pay my Federal Student Loans while the government is shutdown. Who’s going to process them anyways?

Sincerely,

Ms. Hopeful

We are NOT lazy, we just need something to work with!

Many of the City of Newburgh residents are unemployed not because they are lazy, they just need something to work with.

Unfortunately too many of City of Newburgh residents are only equip to handle entry-level positions, due to their lack of education & skill-set. So many become discouraged and retire their job search because many of the options are not commiserate with their credentials.

So yes we need to create jobs within the City of Newburgh but we also need to promote higher education (job training) as well.

40 By 40

On yesterday God allowed me to celebrate 39 years of life!!! Although I appreciate seeing another year of life, I am not happy with the state of my physical health.

According to my BMI I am consider obese and as everyone knows being overweight brings on a laundry list of medical issues. So today I made a promise to myself to embark on this “40 By 40” Personal Weight Loss Challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to lose 40lbs (or more) before I turn 40 on November 6th, 2014.

This is not going to be easy but it can & will be accomplished! Stay tuned to my entries as I embark on this journey to a healthy lifestyle & a healthy weight!

Welcome to the Wild Wild West the City of Newburgh !!!

City Newburgh residents, I believe we have been lied to! There is no way the City of Newburgh is under any financial ruins (The city’s deficit has been estimated at $6 million).  The city of Newburgh MUST have a hidden stash of money somewhere. I say this only because the City of Newburgh Police Department is constantly putting themselves behind the eight-ball, to be sued.

Did it really take a firing squad of four (4)  police officers to take restrain this 22 year old young man; who they allegedly came at them with a knife. I guess all these officers were suffering from tunnel vision.

The real gut puncher is, just last year the people in this community were fighting against the police layoffs. Since this city has been labeled the murder capital of NYS, adequate police protection is needed.  Needless to say, if it takes 4 officers to open fire on 1 man who allegedly had a knife, then we must have too many police officers on the force.   Just think maybe these 4 officers might have been included in the initial 15 officers the city originally wanted to layoff.

This is just another case where the City of Newburgh Police Department used excessive measures in handling matters.  I guess this is their idea of community policing.

It’s her Prerogative!

The media credits Clive Davis for the rise and blames Bobby Brown for the fall of Whitney Houston!

When will people come to grips and realize that Whitney was a grown ass woman & had a mind of her own, maybe then we can celebrate the great music she left us. The bottom line is the choices that she made for herself, be it GOOD or BAD was her PREROGATIVE!!  Whitney never blamed Bobby Brown for her bad choices, and neither should you!

Welcome to The Ghetto Chateau!!!!!!!!

Welcome to my Ghetto Chateau, my humble abode…..

As an African American mother living in an urban area I strive for the same goals as someone who lives in a suburban area would. Hey, I enjoy espresso in the morning while on my way to work too. 🙂
